A WiFi access point (AP) puts wireless in the building so phones, tablets, and indoor stations can get on the network. It is not how you run cameras. Cameras still want a Cat 6 cable.
One AP covers a typical house or small shop if you place it central and high. A warehouse, office floor, or apartment hallway may need more than one.
The AP takes PoE. Run Cat 6 from the switch to the AP. Do not daisy-chain cheap home routers for this.
