PoE Cameras vs AHD Cameras

This shop sells two kinds of camera systems. They do not mix on the same cable.

PoE (the newer DIY path)

One Cat 6 cable powers the camera and sends video to an NVR recorder. That is Power over Ethernet. Most new houses and shops should start here.

AHD (coax)

These are analog HD cameras. Video goes on coax to a DVR. Each camera also needs 12V power (a single adapter or a power box). Use this if you already have coax in the walls, or you want that style of system.

A hybrid DVR can take AHD cameras and still has a few extra slots for PoE cameras later.
