One door vs many doors

Count doors that need a button or a reader. That pick drives the gear. Akuvox scales. Same system on door one and door twenty.

One door

A house, a shop front, or a single office door. A video door station covers “who is there” and can unlock. A keypad or facial reader covers staff letting themselves in. You still need a lock that the station or reader can fire. Many people put both on that one door: ring for visitors, badge for staff.

Many doors

Apartments, offices, warehouses, and plants. Video station at the public entry. Readers on staff doors, the back door, the gate, the stock room. A 4-door controller cabinet when you have several locks to fire. Add another cabinet when you grow past four. A multi-unit intercom is for many suites ringing one entry, not a replacement for readers on four staff doors.

Cloud or local, the hardware is the same. Mix stations and readers. Do not buy a second brand to add a door.
